Black History Month at Vancity Theatre

Throughout February, Vancity Theatre will be marking Black History Month with a series of specially curated films; including the powerful documentary King: A Filmed Record; From Montgomery to Memphis, the sexy/sweet animated film Chico and Rita, the beautiful Through a Lens Darkly followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris, 1960 Academy Award Winning film Black Orpheus, the happiest sound in jazz – Clark Terry in Keep On Keepin’ On, the incredible vocals in Beyond the Lights, and don’t miss an evening tribute to Richard Pryor preceded by a live half hour set from Vancouver based comic Dino Archie. Curated with programming support by Barbara Chirinos. Beyond the lights is also screening this month as part of a Movies for Mommies series, which is designed especially for mothers and young babies. The audio is played at a lower level and the lights left slightly up. Baby changing facilities and stroller parking is available.
