The Canadian Horror Show

MyBloodyValentineCdnHorrorShow

With Canadian genre films experiencing a renaissance, we’re thrilled to present a selection of seminal Canuck horror this Halloween, from a lost Cronenberg classic to contemporary cult fare.

In celebration (or preparation?) for the spine-chilling Canadian cinema we’ve about to splash on the screens of the Vancity Theatre, we asked our Twitter followers to write their own Canadian Horror film within the confines of a 140-character tweet. Here are some of our favourites.

The best hockey horror since George Stroumboulopoulos was murdered with a skate in Hobo With A Shotgun.

Want more spine-chilling Canadian cinema? Join us at the Vancity Theatre from October 29 to November 1 for nine frightening films, plus a talk with UBC Film Studies professor Ernest Mathijs. Tickets for each show are for sale at our regular prices, or you can get a Canadian Horror Show pass for only $50. What a bloody good deal.

The Canadian Horror Show is curated with Vince d’Amato of the Shivers Film Society.
