Last week we announced that we’d be bringing the major award winners from this spring’s Cannes Film Festival to local screens this fall. Now we’re excited to confirm 32 more award-winning films that will be showcased during this year’s 16-day festival.
Headlining the list are the latest efforts from Canadian auteurs David Cronenberg (Maps to the Stars) and Xavier Dolan (Mommy), both of which picked up awards at Cannes. Also confirmed are features that have been feted at Sundance — including the pop musical God Help the Girl directed by Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch — and SXSW — the astonishingly cinematic Yakona — as well as Beatles-centric Spanish hit Living is Easy with Eyes Closed and Of Horses and Men, an Icelandic oddity that’s picked up almost 20 awards while travelling international festivals.
